J&J Reining Inc. was built on a simple idea: if no one else is going to fix the problem… why not us?
In 2017, reining coach Jen Jonas and student Sharon Jones (founder of Be A Better You) connected through our shared passion for horses and the sport of reining.
Like many in the industry, we were hit hard by the shutdowns of 2020. With no horse shows and restricted travel across Ontario into 2021, the conversation quickly turned from frustration to action.
We noticed something obvious: everyone was talking about the problem — no one was doing anything about it.
So we took a gamble.
In August 2021, with no prior experience, we hosted our very first reining show.
It truly was our first rodeo!
We learned fast, worked hard, and they ended the weekend with a lot of lessons… and very sore feet.
That first show sparked something bigger.
From 2022 to 2026, J&J Reining Inc. went on to host a further eight shows, consistently running two events per year. Over that time, we contributed:
-
$195,000 in class payouts
-
$65,000 in prizes and awards
What started with a single ranch class quickly evolved. Each year, more ranch classes were added, reflecting the growing demand and diversity within the sport.
By 2024 and 2025, our events had become the largest reining and ranch shows in Ontario.

Despite the growth, the heart of J&J Reining never changed.
Every show was built by the two of us — supported by:
-
a committed team of volunteers and show staff
-
generous sponsors and vendors
-
passionate competitors and spectators
Together, we created events that were not only competitive, but deeply community-driven.
After five years of building something from the ground up, J&J Reining Inc. now closes this chapter — proud of what was created, grateful for everyone who made it possible, and ready to return to what started it all: focusing on our own horses and the love of the sport.
